He played for the Dodgers 1943-47, Philadelphia Phillies 1947-48 and Cincinnati Reds 1948. During his career, he played in 470 games and banged out 383 hits (including 85 doubles, 7 triples and 24 HRs) in 1588 at bats for a .241 career batting average. After he retired from major league baseball, the former Hamline University basketball player continued playing professional basketball in the NBA. In 1950 he played for the Anderson Packers and the Fort Wayne Pistons. In 1951-52 and 1952-53, he was a member of the World Champion Minneapolis Lakers who were coached by Hall of Fame coach&John Kundla. During his NBA career, he played in 173 games and registered 1775 minutes played while scoring 913 total points. He signed the sweet spot of this OML Allan H. From 1943 to 1948, Schultz played Major League Baseball as a member of the Brooklyn Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies, and Cincinnati Reds. Standing 6'6", he primarily played first base and held a career batting average of .241. Schultz turned to basketball in 1949, embarking on a four year National Basketball Association career as a member of the Anderson Packers, Fort Wayne Pistons, and Minneapolis Lakers. He averaged 5.3 points per game and won two championships with the Lakers.
