Acie played high school basketball in Moline, Illinois and then played college basketball for the University of Iowa. At Iowa, he played in 116 games, made 493 of 725 free throws, grabbed 811 total rebounds, recorded 139 assists, 111 steals, 358 blocked shots (including 121 during his junior year in 1992) and scored 1779 points. After the outstanding 4-year career at the University of Iowa, Acie was drafted by the Boston Celtics in the 1st round (19th Pick) of the 1993 NBA Draft. Acie played four seasons in the NBA&Boston Celtics 1994-95, Toronto Raptors 1996-97 and Milwaukee Bucks 1997. During his NBA career, he played in 193 games, made 258 of 387 free throws, grabbed 190 offensive rebounds and 327 defensive rebounds, recorded 61 assists, 63 steals, 126 blocked shots and scored 980 points.
